About

Clare Saxby

My career began in journalism, as a researcher delivering reports for BBC Breakfast News. I then moved across to Film Four, became a script editor for an array of film and television companies and a talent scout for HBO before co-founding Litmus Productions, producing award-winning feature films, television drama and short films.

I have been a screenwriter for eighteen years, developing and delivering award-winning projects for companies including the BBC, Film Four, Fremantle Media and Disney. I’m currently developing an original eight-part TV drama series, THE YEAR OF THE SNAKE.

Whilst working towards an MA in Creative Writing at Birkbeck University, I am embarking on my first YA novel, THE ENDLING CHRONICLES, which, at early manuscript stage, has been long-listed for the Myslexia Children & YA Competition 2021 and was a Readers’ Favourite in the Write Mentor Children’s Novel Award 2021. I interview high-profile authors for the Mechanics’ Institute Review literary magazine.

I have also lectured in Screenwriting at the School of Arts, University of Kent, moderated for the University of Gloucestershire and speak at local schools, encouraging young people to develop their interest in screenwriting.

I’m a keen gardener and have volunteered at Sissinghurst Castle Gardens and Great Dixter.
